China Mobile release OPhone SDK

China Mobile's own operating system Ophone OS developer community officially opened. Registered developer will have access to development tools like SDK and API documents.

OPhone OS (which means Open Mobile Phone Operating System) is led by China Mobile and third-party software developers. The system is based on Google's open source software Android. It includes open-source core based on the mobile terminal operating system, middleware, Java virtual machine, application software, hardware reference designs and a variety of applications.

China Mobile wished OPhone could become a new competitive mobile Internet terminal. According to China Mobile, more than 10 mobile phone manufacturers joined the game. They are: Lenovo, Dell, Dopod(HTC), Samsung, Motorola, LG, Amoi, Philips, Hisense etc.

OPhone OS provides third-party application developers with development-friendly interface and an open development model, which greatly facilitates the terminal function and the development of mobile applications. OPhone OS is committed to become a mainstream operating system, one of the smart terminal.

Rumors said China Unicom, one of China Mobile's competitor, had signed agreement with Apple on iPhone sales in China. The popular device which launched in 2007 cause high attention in China phone market.
